Dr Taverne has lectured widely both here and overseas in the field of orthodontics, also having an extensive list of publications in the national and international dental literature. After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Queensland, he subsequently completed further specialisation and obtained his 'Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics' from the University of Utrecht, Nederland. He has been a specialist for more than thirty years, during which time he has worked in various overseas locations. He continues to be closely involved in teaching orthodontics to Clinical Doctorate(UQ) students in the field of Paediatrics Dentistry, presently holding the Academic title of Senior lecturer
